On Tuesday, Donald Trump is poised to lose the popular vote for a third straight election.
If Democrats turn out as expected, he will also lose the race to 270 in the Electoral College.
But that's not the only reason why #TrumpIsGoingDown is trending on X this Saturday morning.
This is the reason:
In a 4-minute rant about his broken microphone, Trump turned his "closing argument" speech in Milwaukee into yet another NSFW example of why, if he were a book, Moms for Liberty and the Heritage Foundation would ban him.
Blowing it
We already know that Trump is a disgusting and immoral individual. He's a bully and a slob with no redeeming qualities. But somehow he has transformed the GOP—a party which previously claimed to support, conservative principles, family values, and the rule of law—into a corrupt clown show that prioritizes stupidity over expertise, thuggery over diplomacy, and owning the libs über alles.
Will Trump's latest nonsense—a viral moment that could achieve the same reach online as the Hawk Tuah Girl—change anything on Tuesday?
Definitely maybe.
Trump's inappropriate social behavior is a reminder both of his long history as a sexual predator and his increasingly obvious cognitive decline.
Last night's performance comes on the heels of not one, but two new accusers coming forward to reveal sexual assaults Trump committed—right on 5th Avenue—in the 1990s. Even as TikTokers discover the "Access Hollywood" tape for the first time—and first-time voters express amazement that its release occurred prior to Trump winning the 2016 election.
It follows new revelations about Trump's longtime friendship with child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein—including the release of hours of new tapes of Epstein in conversation with author Michael Wolff.
And, when it comes to Trump's accelerating cognitive decline, it's creates a similar viral moment to when Trump played garbage man the other day, only to demonstrate both visuospatial difficulties and remind us of his long-time dragging leg problem.
Trump's stubborn refusal to release his medical records becomes even more alarming every time his handlers let him out in public.
Losing it
Trump's increasingly erratic, uncontrolled, and unhinged behavior coincides with a dramatic shift in vibes—and polling—as Election Day approaches.
The "Trump trades" are all crashing. Trump Media stock declined 43% from Tuesday afternoon to Friday's close. The "whales" manipulating the prediction markets were quietly hedging their positions as Elon (helpfully) kept hyping Trump's odds on Polymarket. Even as Elon urged his followers to move Trump's price from 67 to "69" cents, it's fallen back into the 50s. Predictit now has the race tied.
Even on Fox News, the mood is gloomy. Jesse Watters told Mike Johnson he'd have to wait and see if he would hold onto his gavel. Greg Gutfeld did a long bit about how conservatives must accept defeat (if it happens) without any violence. And Hannity closed his Friday show praying for a Trump victory as if such an eventuality would require divine intervention.
Trump's "ceiling" is crashing
Trump's re-election effort has always been driven by his desperation to stay out of prison.
He and his team have hoped they could lie and cheat their way to victory despite Trump remaining deeply unpopular with the majority of Americans.
Even as he flirted with 50% in some polls, his true support has never topped 47%.
Early voting looks good for Democrats. Last-minute deciders are breaking for Harris. The Dems have an enthusiastic and robust GOTV effort. Meanwhile, Trump is relying on Elon Musk to bribe voters and cajole his part-time door knockers to meet strict targets or be denied food or shelter.
We know Trump is losing because Elon Musk is panic-tweeting on X like a parody Trump who got into Junior's coke stash.
Trump's only hope of winning was to finish strong in the final stretch. But he began fading fast as the nation absorbed the horrors of last week's Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden. Telling women he would protect them "like it or not" didn't help. Nor did promising to let RFK, Jr. "go wild on health, food, and medicines." Nor did Mike Johnson promising to take "a blowtorch to the regulatory state," while also repealing Obamacare and the CHIPS Act. Nor did the world's richest man telling voters to prepare for "temporary hardship."
It doesn't help Trump's case that the Biden-Harris economy is booming while Trump-Cruz abortion bans are killing women in Texas.
And threatening to execute Liz Cheney will likely prove to be a bigger turnoff to conservative women than mimicking oral sex.
Four more years of Trump would be unthinkable. But the American people understand the assignment.
The steamroller of fascism will be halted on Tuesday.
