Trump to Zelensky, August 18: "During the war you can't have elections? So let me just see – three and a half years from now, if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections. That's good."
As I wrote in March: "Everything is in place to trigger a national crisis, crash the dollar, declare martial law, and cancel all future elections."
Since then, Trump has taken even more steps to implement his authoritarian vision — putting more power into the hands of Christian nationalists, white supremacists and tech fascists, even as his own approval rating slides and his physical and mental deterioration accelerates.
Trump has brought America to the brink of collapse
It would be nice if Maryland Governor Wes Moore was right when he says that Trump's unconstitutional, authoritarian deployments of U.S. troops on American soil are not "not scalable."
But ICE is already removing its age requirements and offering $50,000 bonuses to racists willing to join its masked terror squads.
And Trump just put Stephen Miller in charge of deciding what kind of "relevant backgrounds and experience" are needed to join the new "specialized Guard units" Trump will deploy to "quell civil disturbances."
When the time comes for Team Trump to spark a conflagration to justify a military crackdown, they will be the ones handing out the matches.
The forces of fascism are preparing for Trump's demise
Trump himself is the physical embodiment of all that is wrong with America — stupid, arrogant, corrupt, predatory, gluttonous, lazy, cruel, ignorant, greedy, vicious and unapologetic.
For 10 years, Trump has served as the grotesque, media-captivating clown that the worst people in America, along with all their evil schemes, have been allowed to hide behind.
Now, though, Trump's enablers can no longer paint over the cracks or deny his decline. No amount of concealer can hide his physical decrepitude. And while the White House may no longer publish transcripts of the incoherent things he says, every public appearance offers new proof of his increasingly feeble mental condition.

Online speculation suggests that Trump's physical symptoms — including badly swollen ankles and alarming bruises that have now spread to both hands — may indicate a life-threatening condition like congestive heart failure.
As rumors swirl that Trump could have only have months to live, he himself is showing new concerns about his own mortality.
Whatever Republican insiders know about Trump's health, those closest to him are acting like they don't have time to waste.
They are accelerating their plans to destroy life in America as we know it.
As a whole, Project 2025 is already 47% complete. But 70% of its war on Planet Earth has already been won. Trump is gutting disaster response. Amid a new Covid surge, he's considering banning the vaccine. The Army base used as as internment camp for Japanese Americans in World War Two will soon become the nation's largest ICE facility.
Trump's parting gift to JD Vance: "No more elections"
If Trump makes it to November 2026, there are only two possibilities he will countenance: 1) An election so rigged in his favor that he cannot possibly lose, or: 2) Cancel the midterms.
He's preparing us for a Russian-style election by taking Putin's advice about how to make it happen. In his mind, the GOP could gain a 100-seat majority by eliminating mail-in voting (Trump's own previously preferred method) and pursuing a ruthless approach to redistricting.
If all that fails, he'll be willing to provoke a national crisis of even activate his new "Department of War" to ensure there are "no more elections."

When Wes Moore says Trump's plan to impose martial law is "not scalable," he's talking only about the physical reality of policing a massive nation of 340 million people.
Governor Moore is forgetting about the tech fascists.
As I wrote in May 2024, during Trump's current term, "all kinds of Big Brother abuses" will be made possible by new technologies that, "combined with corrupt and selfish motivations," will usher in a new age of tech-powered totalitarianism.
The people who control America's AI models, surveillance systems and social media platforms are all — for now — in league with Donald Trump.
But Musk told us years ago that Trump is "too old to be chief executive of anything." He's always had a Plan B.
Long term, Vance is Musk's — and Peter Thiel's — guy
When JD Vance could have been out defending Trump's failed policies and pouring cold water on Epstein conspiracy theories, he has spent the past few months on permanent vacation, biding his time.
Vance and his handlers know that he does not have the support of the MAGA base — or the ability to ever win a free and fair election.
Musk, Thiel and Vance are all banking on the fact that, after "the most consequential security breach in U.S. history," JD won't have to worry about something as nerve-wracking as ever having to face America's meddling voters.
For as long as he stays in power, Trump's last hurrah will be normalizing the "state of emergency" that Vance (and Musk and Thiel) will use as to justify a tech fascist takeover that's impossible to un-install.
