If you’re a six-week-old fetus, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (because he’s “pro-life”) will risk the life of a grown woman (a.k.a. the “host body”) to protect you.
But if you’re an actual human person, Abbott spends his days dreaming up new ways to shower you with highly infectious and potentially deadly droplets.
And now more than 76,000 Texans are dead.
In an absolutely preventable human tragedy, the total pandemic death toll in Texas (population 29 million) is now virtually equal to that of California (population 39.5 million).
Put another way, simply living in Texas (America’s second most populous state) has made you 35% more likely to die of Covid than living in America’s most populous state.
Tens of thousands of Texans are dead because of the decisions Greg Abbott has made to sacrifice them simply to further his political ambitions.
How do we know this is all about Abbott’s ambition and not his gun-and-God-loving “conservative” principles?
Because—as we now expect from MAGA hypocrites like Abbott—his principles change with the wind.
Even after himself catching Covid in August 2021 (and getting quick access to monoclonal antibodies), the triple-vaccinated Abbott has, since then, moved further to the right on issues of public health, most notably the issue of vaccine mandates.
As the Texas Tribune reported, Abbott’s October 11 Executive Order banning all vaccine mandates in Texas marked: “a significant reversal after Abbott previously gave private businesses the choice to mandate vaccines for workers. An Abbott spokesperson said in late August that ‘private businesses don’t need government running their business.’”
Mass Death in the Age of Free Vaccines
On October 7, four days before Abbott signed that EO, The Lancet published a study showing that Texas and Florida, by failing to match the average vaccination pace of top-performing states such as Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and Rhode Island, had caused at least 22,000 preventable deaths. The study also pointed out that simply by accelerating vaccinations starting on September 1, Texas and Florida could have prevented 1,200 additional deaths through October 31.
But instead of accelerating vaccinations, Covid survivor Abbott doubled down on his anti-vaxxer “freedumb” propaganda.
On November 8, the Texas Dept. of State Health Services released a study showing that during the month of September, unvaccinated Texans were about 20X more likely to suffer a Covid19-associated death and 13X more likely to test positive than people who were fully vaccinated.
If real Jesus were watching, he would no doubt be horrified. But at the Church of QAnon Jesus in Texas, they’re happy to keep the killing coming if it helps them “f**k Joe Biden”:
At the end of 2021, America is being overwhelmed by a new variant—Omicron—that is causing cases to skyrocket, ensuring that the stresses on both big-city and rural hospitals will continue well into the New Year. The CDC now estimates that 44,000 Americans will die in the next four weeks alone.
The threat of new and vaccine-resistant variants has been a constant since the start of the pandemic, but no one has done more to encourage their spread than “Neanderthal Thinker” Abbott. Back in March, Abbott lifted all Covid restrictions in Texas even as his own state then ranked an abysmal 48th in vaccinations and had every major variant circulating.
The Covid-19 death toll in Texas has more than doubled since February 2 this year. It now stands at 76,031, more than Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Sweden, Finland and Norway combined.
I can think of many ways to describe Greg Abbott. But “pro-life” isn’t one of them.
