Jim Jordan is a political thug.
If you knew him only from his made for MAGA-land TV appearances, you’d think he was a loud and cartoonishly moronic charlatan whose dual mission in life was to acquit Trump for treason and prosecute Democrats for sneezing.
If you knew him only from his malignant presence on Twitter, you’d think he was a troll being paid by the tweet to spread disinformation and, in recent weeks, to distract from every new brick in the wall of evidence the January 6th Committee is building against the treasonous Trump.
A Goon Who Has Failed Ohio
In terms of actually serving his constituents, Jim Jordan is as big a failure for Ohio’s 4th District as Orange Mussolini was for the nation.
In 2021, the Center for Effective Lawmaking, a joint project between academics at the University of Virginia and Vanderbilt University, ranked Jordan as one of the least effective GOP representatives in Congress—placing him 202nd out of the 205 Republicans they measured. (By comparison, other Ohio Republicans ranked 8th, 13th and 144th.)
But while Jim Jordan has failed miserably to represent his constituents in each of his 15 years in Congress, he has proven particularly adept at one thing in life: Being a friend to rapists.
“Gym Jordan” and Dr. Richard Straus
On Twitter, Rep. Jordan is known less-than-affectionately as “Gym” (hashtag: #GymJordan) based on his sordid history of enabling the rape and sexual abuse of hundreds of students by the now-deceased former Ohio State Dr. Richard Strauss.
According to the AP, a total of 2,200 total instances of fondling and 127 instances of rape attributed to Strauss were tallied as of December 2020.
Multiple reports have indicated that Jordan, then an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State, was aware of the Strauss’s non-stop abuse, but consistently looked the other way. In one lawsuit, a professional referee alleged that:
Disgraced doctor Richard Strauss masturbated in front of him in a shower after a wrestling match at Ohio State University, and that he reported the encounter directly to Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who was then the assistant coach.
“Yeah, that’s Strauss,” Jordan… replied.
The “cesspool of deviancy” at Ohio State that Jordan shrugged at had lasting and traumatic consequences for hundreds of young students’ lives. It ultimately cost the university nearly $60 million in negotiated settlements.

Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz
Jordan has no bigger booster in Congress than accused child rapist and sex-and-drugs party planner Matt Gaetz.
Gaetz—a character who could credibly be inserted into Idiocracy, Animal House, or MTV Spring Break without missing a beat—recently called Jordan “the spiritual and intellectual leader” of the House GOP.
It’s a “spiritual and intellectual” world in which the sex-crazed Florida Congressman, who recently endorsed the idea of lowering the age of consent in Florida, is more than happy to play Butthead to Jordan’s Beavis.
Despite what appears to be a mountain of Venmo receipts that prove his guilt on the sex-trafficking charges, Matt Gaetz remains at large.
Meanwhile, his former partner in sex crimes, Joel Greenberg, has already pleaded guilty to multiple federal offenses.
Greenberg continues to cooperate with “ongoing investigations” against “multiple individuals” ahead of a December sentencing date.
Jim Jordan, however, appears to be shrugging at the rape and sex trafficking allegations against his buddy Gaetz in the same way he did when confronted with the truth about Dr. Strauss.

Jim Jordan’s first response to the recent story of the 10-year-old rape victim who was denied an abortion in Ohio and had to be taken to Indiana for an abortion in her seventh week of pregnancy was to call the young victim and her mother liars.
He tweeted: “Another lie. Anybody surprised?”
But following the arrest of Gershon Fuentes—an undocumented immigrant—Jordan realized he had finally found a rapist he didn’t like, declaring that Fuentes had committed a “heinous act.” But as one Twitter user noted, Jordan’s belated response still managed to insinuate that the crime wouldn’t have been so bad if “the rapist been a white citizen.”
Jordan was one of many in the GOP and on Murdoch-owned media including The Wall Street Journal and Fox News, who doubted the story, despite many Ohio Republicans being presented with—and callously dismissing—an almost-identical real-world scenario prior to the passage of Ohio’s extreme new anti-choice law.
Likewise, despite national coverage of this earlier example and years of prior discussion of the issue, many 2022 Republicans feigned surprise that very young girls could even get pregnant.
“I’m amazed a 10-year-old got pregnant.… You really wrestle with that,” said Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio.
Jim Jordan and Donald Trump
In the world Jim Jordan inhabits—and among all the rapists he just can’t quit—Donald Trump remains the King.
In a party currently obsessed with assigning the “groomer” label to anyone not in line with its “guns and religion” extremism, Jordan seems relentlessly unconcerned by allegations that Trump raped a 13-year-old girl at Jeffrey Epstein’s NY mansion, or Trump’s public statements describing his desire to “date” his own daughter, his pervy interest in pre-teens, and his appreciation of sex with “troubled young women.”
As with many in the “family values” GOP, Jordan is willing to turn a blind eye to the renowned pussygrabber’s self-confessed history as a serial sexual predator—while studiously ignoring the heinous crimes being committed by an ever-growing list of Republican sexual predators.
Jordan would likely say about the pervert Trump exactly what he said so dismissively about Dr. Strauss: “Yeah, yeah, we know.”
Because while Jim Jordan has not done much to actually legislate in his 15 years in Congress, he’s proven exceptionally good at one thing: Defending rapists.
