Let’s start with some humor: Alabama principal Dr. Quentin J. Lee went viral this week with his Back-to-School parody of MC Hammer’s classic “You Can’t Touch This.” (Click this link to see it on Twitter. I’ve posted the YouTube link at the bottom of the page.) But Dr. Lee’s done more than one viral video. I checked out his YouTube channel and found the hidden gem from a few months ago: “Dr. Lee Sings a Song About COVID-19.” That’s the video at the top of this page. And it’s very much worth 52 seconds of your time. Bookmark it in case you want to sing along later.
Now Let’s Get Serious
The election is just 87 days away. As previously reported, Trump, Putin, Karl Rove and their GOP collaborators are stopping at nothing to steal this one with tactics even more brazen than in 2016.
Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal just issued this warning in the Washington Post: “The Trump administration is keeping the truth about a grave, looming threat to democracy hidden from the American people…. The facts are chilling. I believe the American public needs and deserves to know them. The information should be declassified immediately.”
Meanwhile, Republican Senators Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley now stand accused of actively pushing Russian disinformation in the GOP’s ongoing attempt to do Putin’s dirty work for him.
And to top it all off, #FridayNightMassacre is trending on Twitter this Saturday because Trump’s new donor-turned-Postmaster General just made a major move to demolish the USPS in an attempt to cripple mail-in voting in the midst of a deadly pandemic (current death toll: 164,000+).
The Best Ads of The Week:
Can ads help? We may not know for sure until November, but there are a lot of very powerful, hard-hitting anti-Trump ads making the rounds on social media these days—with several of them now also showing up on TV. Three of the most prominent ad makers on Twitter right now are the author Don Winslow, MeidasTouch and Really American, all of whom put out some especially powerful new videos this week.
