"ObamaGate" Destroyed in 60 Seconds

I'm just going to leave this here:

"ObamaGate" Destroyed in 60 Seconds

We knew our Failure-in-Chief had “issues” with Barack Obama. And he made that abundantly clear again on Sunday with an insane 126 tweet-and-retweeetstorm.

In addition to advertising how little time he was spending with Melania on Mother’s Day, Trump’s tweets were an obviously desperate attempt to distract from the fact that the death toll from the “Plague” he brought upon America had passed 80,000.

Because Trump knows that when it comes to the coronavirus, he has failed America on every level. However you look at it—from the failure to test… to the failure to implement social distancing sooner… to the rush to re-open without a national testing strategy—the majority of U.S. deaths from COVID-19 have been, and will be, a direct response of Trump’s stupidity and incompetence.

Much of Sunday’s tweetstorm was focused on a scandal Trump is now calling: OBAMAGATE!

But what, exactly, is “ObamaGate”?

When he was asked about it by Philip Rucker of The Washington Post at the White House press briefing Monday, Trump, like a senile racist who thinks “Presidenting While Black” should be a felony, couldn’t quite explain it.

In case you missed that particular embarrassing exchange, comedian Sarah Cooper has conveniently re-enacted the scene using actual audio:

Last night, we found out exactly why Trump couldn’t quite explain what “ObamaGate” was, despite the existence of “notes” and “texts” that had QAnon abuzz and were “raising a lot of questions” for Fox News anchor Shannon Bream.

As national security lawyer Bradley P. Moss summed it up:

I’m sitting here trying to figure out what exactly Constitutional deprivation was there? What is the crime that people think Barack Obama and Joe Biden are going to be prosecuted under? To be clear—and this is using the words of President Trump and his lawyers for the last three years—any sitting President can get any classified information they want. According to Donald Trump, they can launch any investigation they want. They can tell the F.B.I. to pursue only particular individuals. This is not me saying it. This is what Donald Trump has been saying for three years. This was their argument during the Mueller probe. This was their argument during the impeachment investigation. That the President has this kind of authority. So what did we find out? That Barack Obama was aware about intelligence intercepts on the Russian Ambassador, when he was talking with General Flynn? That there had just been an attack on our election a couple of months earlier. We were still dealing with the fallout of Russian election interference in 2016. There was concern about a counter-intelligence problem with Michael Flynn and they had a discussion? I’m shocked. I can’t believe they had that conversation. What is the crime?

In other words, “ObamaGate” is just a big steaming pile of nothing. It has been concocted out of thin air by Russian trolls and the right-wing noise machine. It’s only goal is to distract from Trump’s public health and economic failures in the midst of an election campaign. And Trump is all-in because he’s blinded by his Obama hate and feeling inferior to Obama every second of every minute of every day. Based on most polls, Trump is currently losing the election. But once again he’s hoping to somehow pull out a win with a magical combination of lies, progaganda, dirty tricks, voter suppression, and as much domestic and foreign election interference as he thinks he can get away with.

But back to last night.

After Bradley P. Moss’s brilliant 60-second summation of the case, Shannon Bream could only respond one possible way. She delivered the go-to Fox News capitulation when an interviewer knows the game is up:

Well, we’re just going to have to leave it there.

Until next time.
