As detailed by [Stephanie Baker](https://www.instagram.com/reels/DejRe3FiBXe/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io), the videos, which began exploding on X in early September, mimic prominent news organizations, and use celebrity deepfakes to make outlandish false claims about Democrats. The videos are being spread by small accounts that appear suddenly, with many quickly getting amplified by larger, blue-check accounts on X. In many cases, the audience numbers are being faked by bots because — under Musk — X's view counts are based on total plays, not the number of users who actually put eyes on a video. Screenshots of what's happening, says Baker, "show the same unusual pattern over and over again: a rapid surge in views, that quickly tails off.... Even as accounts get suspended, new ones appear. It's the disinformation equivalent of drone warfare." ### Three wars collide with one election As the midterms approach, it's clear that Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Elon Musk are doing everything they can to engineer an outcome that, if necessary, overrides the will of the American people. Trump knows that his disastrous war with Iran has sent his popularity plunging — and put his party on course for a drubbing in the midterms. Musk is not only spending [massive amounts](https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/12/us/politics/elon-musk-midterms.html?unlocked%5Farticle%5Fcode=1.IFE.-vsU.BvA6k6wGPtqd&smid=url-share&ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) to help Republicans. He's allowing X to become the official platform of choice for [US psyops](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/the-x-files/). He's using his personal platform to [amplify smears and lies](https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2026/10/13/fringe-theory-about-james-talarico-went-viral-then-elon-musk-weighed/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) against Democrats. He's given his own users a built-in [image and video generation](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/elons-next-attack/) tool to create the kind of [AI-driven misinformation](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/mountainhead-revisited/) we've been warned about for years. And, having removed any pretense at fighting bots or moderating celebrity deepfakes, he's allowing Russia to once again [overwhelm social media](https://factcheck.afp.com/doc.afp.com.C8DF3G8?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) with state-backed disinformation to sow division and help Trump. ### And that's only what they're doing in public *Reuters* recently outlined:"[Nine ways the Trump administration could interfere with the midterms](https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-election-midterms-scenarios/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io)." *Axios* now tells us that, "[Trump's MAGA allies are openly discussing martial law](https://www.axios.com/2026/10/16/trumps-maga-allies-openly-discuss-martial-law?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io)." It's not that no one saw it coming. As I warned in this September 2024 article: "[Trump will focus on corruption.
