The GOP has gone from “Contract with America” to “Contract on America”

If ever you needed proof that a fish rots from the head down, look no further than the Party of Trump.

Six years into the reign of the mobbed-up, money laundering, psychopathic pussygrabber, the cast of characters in the Republican party looks like a cheap parody of a Scorsese movie.

In Washington, thugs like Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz, and online trolls like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert have become the de facto leadership of a fascist-funded, hate-filled House GOP.

In the states, fascists-in-suits (and boots) like Ron DeSantis, Greg Abbott and Brian Kemp have turned the Republican Party into an anti-democratic voter-suppression machine determined to seize and maintain power at any cost.

And this year’s batch of new “Ultra MAGA” extremist candidates—from Dr Oz and Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania to Kari Lake and Blake Masters in Arizona to Herschel Walker in Georgia—are a motley crew of grifters and conspiracy theorists eager to jump on the Trump bandwagon while the MAGA poorly educateds are still making it rain.

The Party of Lincoln has become the Party of Moron.

There’s no longer any pretense that the GOP has any interest in anything more than stoking racial grievances and promoting divisive culture wars to gain power and personal enrichment.

The only way they measure success is by how badly they fuck things up.

That point was brought home this week when Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) was caught on tape by Democratic activist Lauren Windsor literally explaining the whole plan:

Pretending to be a conservative activist, Windsor asks Schweikert:

Are y’all gonna be able to get Kevin McCarthy out of leadership? We need somebody like Jim Jordan.

Schweikert seized the opportunity to mansplain “big-boy politics” to Windsor, telling her that McCarthy’s only job as Speaker would be to raise money. And raising money wasn’t a job for a “warrior” like famed rapist-enabler Jim Jordan.

As Schweikert put it:

Kevin McCarthy, if he becomes speaker, will spend 240 days a year traveling the country raising money. Jim Jordan, when he chairs the Oversight Committee, will spend 240 days knifing the Biden administration.

The entire GOP pitch for the midterms is based on attacking Democrats on the economy and crime—while having no plan to fix the economy or address crime.

The GOP plan: Truss up the economy

According to Trump’s own top economic advisor Larry “Lunchtime Drinker” Kudlow, Republican leader McCarthy’s ridiculous “Commitment to America” plan “looks a lot like” the Liz Truss plan that just caused anarchy in the UK, only a few weeks too late for the Queen to see it.

That’s it. That’s all they’ve got. The same failed pro-rich, pro-corporate policies that haven’t worked in 40 years and which have caused income inequality in America to reach pre-French Revolution levels.

If you care about crime, you don’t elect criminals.

On crime, Republicans aren’t just bad at stopping it. They keep committing it.

MAGA Republicans not only helped plan and incite the January 6th insurrection—they admitted as much by requesting pardons afterwards.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna “Friend of Sex Criminals” McDaniel has already admitted that her party took orders from Trump to actively participate in his illegal fake electors scheme. This week, she publicly advertised her party’s commitment to lawlessness by tweeting a clip of her talking to the alt-right shit-stirrer and convicted MAGA-voter scammer Steve Bannon right before his prison sentence for contempt of Congress was handed down.

Even now, Senator Lindsey Graham is hoping Clarence “Sleeps-With-The-Insurrectionists” Thomas and the rest of the Trump-corrupted Supreme Court will step in to prevent him from having to testify to his role in Trump’s illegal Georgia election interference in 2020.

Side note: As soon as Michael Cohen’s prison sentence confirmed that Individual-1 had committed crimes to cheat his way to the presidency in 2016, Teflon Don should have at least been stopped from nominating any future mob-friendly judges.

Then, of course, there’s the issue of America’s daily, NRA-sponsored mass shootings, a never-ending form of American Carnage that the GOP is fully complicit in.

And the fact that 8 of the 10 states with the highest murder rates in America voted for Trump in 2020.

After all that, you’re still worried about crime, wait till you hear about the Republican plan to steal your Social Security.

Because if we don’t let them try the Truss plan to “fix the economy” by taxing the poor and eliminating Social Security and Medicare, they’ve already told us what comes next: They will force America to default on all the Bush and Trump debt they previously approved just so they can crash the entire economy for the fun of it.

In the 1990s, the GOP put forward a “Contract with America.” In the age of mobster Trump, they’ve taken out a “Contract on America.”

And, like the January 6th rioters, they’re not coming to Washington to save America.

They’re coming with knives.
