- Description: Even Fox Business can't spin the latest Trump jobs disaster.

As I wrote in 2020, Trump is absolutely, positively [the dumbest person](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/its-the-economy-and-trumps-stupid/) America could have picked to lead us through complicated times.

Six years later, as his [physical](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/dec/18/donald-trump-health?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) and [mental](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/if-he-aced-the-test-why-repeat-it/) disintegration gets worse by the day, Trump is not just starting wars and breaking laws. He's also driving the US economy off a cliff.

As I wrote in January, the full-year jobs numbers for 2025 were [calamitous](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/trump-isnt-working/).

As I wrote last month, the January jobs report was a [disaster](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/another-jobs-disaster/).

### The February jobs numbers were so bad, Trump was left speechless

Despite his ridiculous claims that the Trump economy is the [greatest in history](https://www.euronews.com/business/2026/02/24/greatest-economy-ever-the-numbers-behind-trumps-boasting?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io), Friday's jobs report was so bad that Trump himself didn't even mention it, choosing to focus instead on his new priority: "[Make Iran Great Again](https://aapnews.aap.com.au/news/trump-seeks-surrender-to-make-iran-great-again?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io)!"

But negative reactions to the Trump jobs slump came from all directions.

"Yikes," tweeted economist [Heather Long](https://x.com/byHeatherLong/status/2029918420821758134?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io). "Almost every major industry group shed jobs in February."

In total the US economy shed 92,000 jobs in February (missing the pre-release estimate of +50,000 by 142,000 jobs).

But the story doesn't end there.

Once again, downward revisions to previous reports showed that (as regular readers of this newsletter [are already aware](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/the-trump-economic-disaster-keeps-getting-worse/)) the US economy has been in deep distress for months.

As economics professor [Justin Wolfers](https://x.com/JustinWolfers/status/2029921311166709800?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) tweeted:

> The brutal negative revisions... aren't saying the labor market showed green shoots that withered. It's saying that there never were any green shoots. They were an illusion.

As [The New York Times](https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/06/business/economy/what-to-know-about-the-report.html?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) reported:

> Revisions to previous months bolstered the case that the job cuts in February were consistent with a broader decline rather than a blip... **job growth for the last three months effectively slowed to zero.**

Meanwhile, oil prices have surged 35% since Trump launched his unpopular and unprovoked war in the Middle East.

Prices at the pump are already [up 33 cents](https://youtu.be/g7Hm3naHen4?si=To1gU9l1c2gQOs1Y&ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) in just one week.

### Trump's "Golden Age" of stupidity is leaving almost everyone poorer

Even before [Qatar's energy minister](https://fortune.com/2026/03/06/qatar-lng-halts-exports-iran-conflict-facility-shuttered/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) warned that Trump's war in Iran could send oil prices to $150 a barrel and "bring down the economies of the world," inflation in the US was surging again thanks to Trump.

Core wholesale prices rose 0.8% in January, "[much more than expected](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/27/ppi-january-2026-.html?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io)," reports CNBC. On an annual basis, core wholesale prices are now up 3.6%

Meanwhile, child care costs are rising at [2X the rate of inflation](https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/05/upshot/child-care-expensive-prices.html?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io).

And, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, we should expect more tariff shocks ahead. [Trump tariffs](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/04/bessent-says-global-15percent-tariff-starts-this-week-move-back-to-prior-rates-within-5-months.html?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) are about to go back up to 15% globally, Supreme Court be damned.

### Our Idiot-in-Chief has turned the "Biden Boom" into a "Trump Tailspin"

Less than 14 months into Trump's second term, we're already seeing the devastation caused by his reckless "trickle-down" and tariff policies.

Employment in America has declined in five of the last nine months.

Unemployment is rising — it's now at 4.4% nationally.

[Black unemployment](https://thehiphopdemocrat.com/2026/03/06/the-jobs-are-gone-92000-lost-in-february-while-black-unemployment-hits-7-7/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) has surged to 7.7%.

Trump's waging an illegal war that's costing American taxpayers [$1 billion a day](https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-eye-watering-multibillion-dollar-cost-of-trumps-war-revealed/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io).

Of course, if Trump wanted to fulfill his "America First" promises, he wouldn't waste $1 billion a day on an unprovoked war in Iran.

He'd look for ways to improve the lives of working families — focusing on vital areas like healthcare, childcare, affordable housing, food security, and education.

MAGA voters watching their rural hospitals close might be offended to know that $1 billion — one day of the war's cost — could keep more than 120 at-risk rural hospitals open for a full year.

The next day, Trump could use $1 billion to provide fully paid, year-long childcare vouchers for 75,000 working families.

The day after that, $1 billion could buy a full year's worth of groceries for more than 66,000 families.

But this is Trump. So Americans shouldn't expect things to improve. Trump can always find ways to [make things worse](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/the-next-trump-crash/).
