In the final run-up to the midterms Trump, acting (as usual) like a [brainwashed Fox News viewer](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/the-brainwashing-machine/) who can be convinced that fake news and [shitpolls are real](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/polls-as-psy-ops/), made himself the face of the anticipated “Red Wave,” with a blitz of Save America rallies designed to be a “[show of force](https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/03/politics/trump-2022-midterm-rallies-iowa?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io)” ahead of his anticipated 2024 announcement. Not to be outdone, [Elon “Dark MAGA” Musk](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/dark-maga-musk/) tried to cement his status as [Twitter’s new Trump](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/twitters-new-trump/), by encouraging his 115 million followers [to vote](https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1589639376186724354?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) for the party of insurrection, racism, pussy grabbing, [corporate evil and religious zealotry](https://twitter.com/TheDailyEdge/status/1543645603439296513?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) to help him achieve his own personal goals of crushing unions and destroying trial lawyers. ### The Midterms Were a MAGA Disaster Unfortunately for the [soon-to-be-indicted(?)](https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3710063-gop-bracing-for-trump-indictment-soon-after-election-day/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) document thief and the world’s richest [exploding carmaker](https://futurism.com/tesla-model-s-battery-explodes-totals-car-in-minutes?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io), the people of America had different ideas. **In Pennsylvania:** Voters sent snake-oil salesman Mehmet Oz back to New Jersey and told confederate soldier Doug Mastriano, “[sorry, wrong century](https://twitter.com/richardhine/status/1589062719667580928?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io).” **In New Hampshire:** Ultra MAGA election denier and [litter box fetishist](https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/litter-box-myth-gops-don-bolduc-pushes-post-truth-approach-rcna55662?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) Don Bolduc—who pollsters told us was surging before Election Day—crashed faster than Dogecoin after an Elon Musk SNL appearance. **In Arizona:** Trump-endorsed [anti-choice extremist](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2022-election/arizona-blake-masters-backtracks-abortion-scrubs-campaign-website-rcna44808?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) Blake Masters is trailing Democratic-incumbent Mark Kelly in a Senate race MAGA world was hoping to flip. In a closer race for Governor, Kari Lake still trails Democrat Katie Hobbs. **In Georgia:** Trump-endorsed Russian-roulette aficionado Herschel “Get Well Soon” Walker is running 4 points behind GOP Governor Brian Kemp and trailing Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock in a race that may be headed to a runoff. **In Michigan:** Democratic Governor [Gretchen Whitmer cruised to re-relection](https://www.cnbc.com/2022/11/09/michigan-governor-results-gretchen-whitmer-defeats-tudor-dixon-nbc-news-projects.html?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) against Trump-endorsed, DeVos-funded TV personality Tudor Dixon. **In New York:** Democratic Governor [Kathy Hochul](https://gothamist.com/news/kathy-hochul-wins-in-ny-but-progressives-hope-democrats-learned-a-lesson?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) saw off Trump-endorsed Congressman Lee Zeldin, whose “[lead](https://nypost.com/2022/11/01/lee-zeldin-takes-lead-over-ny-gov-kathy-hochul-in-new-poll/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io)” in GOP-friendly polls Murdoch media had heavily promoted as part of their psy ops campaign in the campaign’s final days. **In Colorado:** In a race she was expected to win easily, [Lauren Boebert](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/11/08/us/elections/results-colorado-us-house-district-3.html?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) wakes up this morning still trailing her Democractic challenger Adam Frisch in CO-3, with 90% of the votes counted. **Meanwhile:** All six insurrectionists running for key Secretary of State positions got defeated. > [](https://twitter.com/SethAbramson/status/1590356939745087488?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) ### In 2022, Republicans Won the “Old-Fashioned” Way While the night was a disaster for Trump, Musk and “Dark MAGA,” the GOP did show they were still able to win the old-fashioned way. With racially biased voter suppression and extreme gerrymandering of the kind that helped Brian Kemp defeat Stacey Abrams (again) and [Ron DeSanctimonious](https://www.orlandosentinel.com/politics/os-ne-donald-trump-ron-desanctimonious-comment-20221106-7kq5x5guazbrplzvzi3gst3bgi-story.html?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io) build his 2024 credentials by flipping a few House seats in Florida. DeSantis continues to build his brand as the “[more-effective fascist](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/trump-was-just-the-warm-up-act/)” the GOP may need to fully deliver on the aims of white supremacists and “Christian” Nationalists without all the baggage of being a [mentally feeble](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/its-the-economy-and-trumps-stupid/), [relentlessly criminal](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/the-crimes-of-donald-trump/), and clinically diagnosed [psychopath](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/diagnosis-psychopath/). **What’s next?** After a night in which Republicans underperformed almost everywhere, the best guess is that Democrats hold the Senate and the GOP emerges with a narrow House majority. In other words: [Two years of hell](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/knifing-biden/), but with [some more Biden nominees and judges ](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/10/02/house-senate-control-2022-outcomes/?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io)confirmed. But at least we now know that—in the post-insurrection, post-Dobbs, post-Classified-documents-theft world—Trump’s brand remains toxic and Elon Musk’s endorsement of the GOP is as worthless as a blue checkmark.
