"God Wants Better of Us"

Trump is not invincible. And his victory is not inevitable. He can still be stopped, one vote at a time, by people who believe, as J.D. Vance once did, that God wants better of us.

"God Wants Better of Us"

Trump's VP selection process proved once again that sometimes you say something about someone that's so unforgivable there's no going back.

Marco Rubio made fun of Trump's tiny penis. He was rejected.

Doug Burgum said he would never trust Trump in business. He too was passed over.

But J.D. Vance isn't like that.

Vance called Trump "America's Hitler." Trump's response: "You're hired."

Clearly, comparing Trump to Hitler is not a deal-breaker for the psychopathic, would-be dictator.

But Trump's selection of Vance—and Vance's willingness to take on the job that almost killed Mike Pence—tells us even more about the junior Senator from Ohio than it does about Trump.

As Jason Sattler (@LOLGOP) writes today:

Vance is like an 80s sitcom-adopted son to far-right billionaire Peter Thiel, a long-time Musk associate who literally opposes democracymuch like Musk.

Sattler also calls Vance "Putin's reward" for his ongoing support and election interference on behalf of Trump, specifically because:

JD has done what Trump has not dared to do. He’s publicly made the case for carving up Ukraine and handing much of the country to Putin as a reward for the unceasing war crimes the Russian dictator has ordered.

By betraying his roots, abandoning his principles and selling his soul, Vance, the-Hillbilly-Elegy-author-turned-venture-capitalist-turned-Putin-puppet, has fully aligned himself with the "New Proud Boys" led by Thiel and Musk who are attempting to use wealth, not fists, to help the GOP achieve its ultimate goal of white male domination.

The "New Proud Boys": Thiel, Vance and Musk

As Sattler writes:

Everything that’s unpopular about Trump is worse about Vance.
He is one of the most poisonously anti-abortion rights Republicans alive. He’s anti-LGBTQ in a way that would impress the Westboro Baptist Church. Everything Trump wants to do to drive up inflation, Vance wants to do that harder. Trump brought neo-Nazis into the GOP; Vance was a founding investor in a company that monetizes neo-Nazi content.
However, JD directly and overwhelmingly appeals to Trump’s two biggest donors, Elon Musk and Vladimir Putin.

Putin-friendly and Musk-endorsed, Vance is now fully on board with the billionaire class's goals to crush unions and deregulate business—and gleefully accelerate the destruction of both the middle class and the planet.

Also noteworthy:

Vance has gone from being actual Christian to worshiping the religious extremism of Republican Jesus.

It's hard to imagine but before he became the new spokesperson for the wife-beating, gay-hating, immigrant-deporting, white-male-dominated MAGA America, Vance actually tweeted this in October 2016:

Trump makes people I care about afraid. Immigrants, Muslims, etc. Because of this I find him reprehensible. God wants better of us.

He deleted the tweet before Peter Thiel donated $15 million to help him buy his way to a Senate seat in 2022.

We must unite to stop the steamroller of fascism

The forces of fascism want you to believe their victory is inevitable in 2024 and that Trump, despite his boo-boo bandage, is invincible.

Untested and unqualified, Vance is either the fresh young face of MAGA America and the future of the GOP. Or he's the new Sarah Palin. But he is firm in his belief that women are earthen vessels who must carry their rapists' babies to term and stay in their one-and-only marriage no matter how violent it gets.

Meanwhile, Musk is using his dictator-status on X to become the "Baghdad Bob" of the Trump-Vance campaign. Perhaps he thinks it's the only way he can recoup the $44 billion he overpaid for Twitter. He's also reversed his recent pledges not to endorse and not to donate to either candidate and is now promising $45 million a month to a pro-Trump crypto-bro Super-PAC.

But Trump is not invincible. And his victory is not inevitable.

He can still be stopped, one vote at a time, by people who believe, as J.D. Vance once did, that God wants better of us.
