# Gaetz Paid for Sex with Minor

Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump's best friend in Florida since he stopped hanging out with [Jeffrey Epstein](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/trump-and-epstein/), "paid a 17-year-old girl for sex when he was 35 years old, which would constitute statutory rape under Florida law," according to the just released House Ethics Report, writes [*The Guardian*](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/dec/23/matt-gaetz-house-ethics-report-release?ref=unprecedented.ghost.io).

> “The committee determined there is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress,” the Republican-led panel wrote in the investigation.

As I wrote [here in February 2023](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/the-case-against-matt-gaetz/), Gaetz's worst child sex crimes occurred while Donald Trump was President, right after Anthony Weiner had pleaded guilty to a charge of “transferring obscene material to a minor,” a crime for which he was subsequently sentenced to 21 months in prison:

> Between May and November 2017, Gaetz wasn’t just cruising high schools to take selfies with children. According to published reports, during those months he and his now-convicted BFF Joel Greenberg were, among other things, having sex with a minor.

Weiner got prison time for sexting while child rapist Gaetz was [nominated to be Attorney General](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/impurity-test/) by the adjudicated rapist Trump almost as soon as Trump won the November election.

Trump, of course has actively been [mocking the Me-Too Movement](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/mocking-the-me-too-movement/) all year long and is now gleefully nominating sex offenders and pedophile enablers to Cabinet positions in what is now "[The Rapeublican Party](https://unprecedented.ghost.io/archive/the-rapeublican-party/)."

Whether the release of the Gaetz reports signals a broader GOP backlash against sex criminals as the Lame Duck Trump begins a second term remains to be seen.

So far Republicans have only proved how much they really hate Matt Gaetz.
