A Meal Nobody Ordered

One year into his disastrous and demented second term, Trump has failed us on every level

A Meal Nobody Ordered

On his return to office one year ago, failed steak salesman Donald Trump didn't just launch a shady meme coin.

He also promised the whole country a feast.

  • This would be a new "Golden Age," he told us
  • The price of groceries would come down immediately
  • Wars would end
  • Blue-collar jobs would boom
  • Healthcare would become "terrific," "phenomenal" and "fantastic" at a fraction of the cost
  • Our streets would be safer
  • The swamp would be drained
  • America would be respected around the world

But, once again, all America got was a rug pull.

Trump has failed us on every level

It's one year since the ringleader behind the January 6th terrorist attack was sworn in as America's 47th president.

Fresh from his 34 felony convictions, Trump, a self-confessed serial sex predator, adjudicated rapist, and notorious Classified documents thief returned to the White House with a "Get-Out-of-Jail Free" card tucked into his pocket — gifted to him by the most corrupt Supreme Court in history — and he was eager to put it to use as often as possible over the next four years.

One year later, there's no Golden Age. There's no relief at the grocery store. And blue-collar jobs are evaporating.

December's inflation report shows the costs of multiple foods jumped more than 6% in 2025. Coffee is up 20%. Beef is up more than 16%. Candy and chewing gum are up 10%. Fish and seafood are up 7%.

In his increasingly demented state, Trump can’t even decide whether "affordability" is a "hoax" or if his reckless tariffs have truly become a new tax on the everyday purchases of hard-pressed Americans.

As the first Christmas of his new Golden Age approached, Ebeneezer Trump told America’s parents that kids needed only "two pencils" and girls should be given "two or three dolls" at most.

Meanwhile, when he wasn't demolishing the East Wing of the White House to build a grotesque, $400-million ballroom, Trump was busying himself hosting tone-deaf Great Gatsby-themed parties and renting out Mar-a-Lago for deranged, Marie Antoinette-inspired events for "furries."

Let them eat "a piece of broccoli"

Kids can't survive on pencils alone, though.

That's why Brooke Rollins, Trump's out of touch, multimillionaire Agriculture Secretary told Americans recently they should make do with budget meals comprising, "a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a corn tortilla, and one other thing."

If this is the meal plan for the Golden Age, we shouldn’t hope for too much when Trump‘s AI job apocalypse truly hits.

When it comes killing jobs, Trump has picked up right where he left off

When Trump snuck out of the White House in disgrace in 2021, he had the worst jobs record since Hoover, costing the U.S. workforce nearly 3,000,000 jobs in a single term.

In his first year back, Trump's policies took aim at the very jobs he had promised to revive.

Outside of the "care economy," America lost 129,000 jobs in 2025. It was a man-made disaster caused entirely by Trump, whose reckless tariffs caused manufacturing jobs to plummet by 68,000 in one year and brought small-business hiring — traditionally the "engine" of the labor market — to a complete halt.

Trump's "terrific" healthcare plan turned out to be an all-out assault on Medicaid, children, and the ACA

Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act slashed spending on Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Affordable Care Act by a combined $2.1 trillion. By 2034, these cuts mean that an additional 15 million Americans will be forced to live without any health coverage at all. Belatedly this month, and only after ACA premiums rose by more than 100% for 24 million Americans, Trump released a laughable 386-word healthcare plan. As Steve Benen of MS NOW explains here, Trump's joke of a plan is worse than "a pitiful sham" because it "pushes the political process away from any solution that might actually help people."

Trump's "day one" promise to end the war in Ukraine is long forgotten. Instead, he's put America on a permanent, imperialistic war footing. He's launched a Bush-Cheney-style war for oil in Venezuela and is publicly planning the Hitler-esque (and NATO-ending) annexation of Greenland.

Trump has deployed not only troops, but also gangs of masked, armed thugs to our cities. By a landslide margin, Americans say ICE is making U.S. cities less safe, even as Trump wants to give them permission to shoot people dead on the street with the kind of impunity he once claimed only for himself.

Trump has been equally ruthless in his attempts to turn the White House into a profit center. With shockingly little pushback, Trump has unleashed an unprecedented era of public grifting and behind-the-scenes corruption. In the process, he's turned presidential pardons, policy announcements, tariff deals, and even national security operations into tradable opportunities that generate direct financial returns for himself, the Trump family, and his closest associates.

Trump is the world's laughingstock — but also its nightmare fuel

As a candidate, Trump repeatedly said America was the laughingstock of the world. Under Obama and Biden, the opposite was true. In those years, the US economy was the envy of the world. American alliances were strengthened. America led the global response in addressing the existential threat of climate change.

Today, as Trump snoozes and farts his way through televised events, the US President has become the joke the whole world is in on.

Only those trapped inside his flatulent bubble must pretend Dear Leader is "acing" his now-regular cognitive tests, that he's being proven superhuman by his "perfect MRIs," or that he's winning actual Peace Prizes, not embarrassing, Make-a-Wish-style trinkets.

The rest of us can see Trump's physical and mental deterioration all too clearly.

We can understand that the demented ravings of this aging pervert are intended, at least in part, to distract the media — and all of us— from the dark truths hidden in the Epstein Files.

As Trump's decline accelerates, the world has come to see America not as an ally or a stabilizing force, but as a mafia state led by an elderly, erratic, sleep-deprived psychopath who, at all times, holds the power to annihilate the world in his tiny, bruised hands.

We're living a nightmare that America didn't vote for.

But it's one the whole world must endure for at least three more years.
